FYI: The Huntly bird from the initial post was NOT accepted by the RAC as hybridism was not possible to rule out (Clinton's suggestion above of course being the leading candidate)

Hi all

Incidentally I am on Uvea (or Wallis Island), Wallis and Futuna and there is a drake Northern Shoveler hanging out with the local Pacific Black Ducks (Grey Ducks) on Lake Kikila. I think this will be the first record for Wallis and Futuna, and is of interest given the recent flurry of records in NZ. It looks to be almost out of eclipse plumage with just some dark flcks on the sides of the breast.
And as this bins pic shows, it seems to be getting on rather well with the locals...
