Re: Wandering tattler near Whangarei Heads
I was unable to find the bird on Wednesday evening (2.2.21). However it was full tide with large waves so the bird may have been hiding. To get to Procters beach, go to the end of Ocean Beach Rd and it is on the other side of the large sand hill on the left. Rocks a half mile walk from there. Easier coming back than going.

The wandering tattler was still present at Proctors Beach at 7.50am on 15 April, high tide. It was foraging at the margin of the lagoon formed where the stream usually exits onto the beach.

Re: Wandering tattler near Whangarei Heads
I last saw this long staying bird on 7 May, when I found it at the Proctors Beach creek and it flew up to the rocks at the northern end of the beach around 2 pm. Yesterday I couldn’t find it in either of its usual haunts, nor on the rocks between Ocean Beach and Proctors nor around the Ocean Beach creek. It may have moved on to somewhere else. I did notice the last time I saw it, that it was a lot more nervous than it had been earlier on in the season.

Re: Wandering tattler near Whangarei Heads
The tattler is still around this morning, on the rocks at the north end of Proctor's Beach at high tide. Hopefully it sticks around through the rest of winter into spring/summer.
