Juvenile Red Necked Stint Foxton
Seen with godwits this single small wader I have recorded as a red necked stint. Sorry for poor heavily cropped photos. Would greatly appreciate confirmation yay or nay

Yep this bird was there on Monday when I went through with my tour group.
Little egret was also present.

i assume when you say foxton you mean the manawatu estuary?

Not a Sanderling as it has a hind-toe - Sanderling do not have one - hence its Chinese name of "3-toed sandpiper".
