Maketu

Some good numbers at Maketu yesterday, an hour or so after high tide, on the sandy shore area in front of the Maketu Marae. 800 plus godwit, 62 wrybill, 5 NZ Dotterels, 77 knot, and a couple PGP. Very easy viewing, on the western side of the marae is the Maketu sports field with a large car park. 100 metre walk to the river and sand bar. Birds right in front of you. Probably best on a week day to avoid people using sports field.
