Bird present today when Jack and I visited just before high tide although as Steve suggested it moved on at approx full high tide and disappeared East heading Mapua way.

Re: Motueka Spit highlights
I was there just after high tide. The bird was present at the far end of the spit among a flock of SIPOs. It hung around until I left an hour and a half later, switching locations several times ending up at the main spot where the Godwits, Turnstones, Wrybills, SIPOs and Banded Dots hang out. Interestingly it seemed to favor the Oystercatchers for company the entire time.
