It was still there today according to Colin Miskelly who saw it from the main hide at low tide

I’m watching it now on the seaward side of the shellbank in front of the Godwit hide. 12.10pm. It’s an hour or so before the low tide. It’s roosting amongst a large flock of Australasian Shovelers.

Thanks for the update Chris it’s getting my hopes up he’ll still be around. It’s interesting it’s stuck around this long if you ask me. I guess it’s a nice spot safe from duckshooting at the moment.

Bird showed very briefly today through the fog which was exceptionally thick at times. It was hanging out with Australasian shovelers, teal and assorted greylards on the far side of the shelbank infront of the Wrybill hide.

Blacktailed Godwit was also present and showing really well on the mudflats amongst the bar tailed godwits. It was the only bird we saw with any colour on it which makes identification really easy! Beautiful dark red head.

The northern shoveler was among the waterfowl roosting on the sea just beyond the outer shellbank (viewed from the main hide) at high tide on 5 June, being gradually blown north in a stiff south-westerly.

I saw it yesterday afternoon, from the 'godwit hide', through scope and binoculars. It was with a large group of Australasian Shovelers, strung out along the mudflast on the far side of the outer shell bank.
