Giant Petrel at Manawatu Estuary

Postby imogen » Thu May 24, 2018 3:54 pm

Wonderful sight of a giant petrel in very high winds, flying around the estuary all the way up to the boat ramp. I think it is a southern, possibly a juvenile? After watching it for a while and struggling to get shots, it flew back out to sea.

Oscar and I agree - juv southern giant. Bill really doesn't look dark enough for a Northern.
