10 Black fronted terns at Thornton
They were on the eastern side of the river mouth, making up a small flock of their own species. It's the most BFs I've ever seen there.The WFs were elsewhere.

Great photo Raewyn. BFTs are incredibly loyal to this site in winter. Fascinating when you think of all the stream outlets and estuaries around the Bay of Plenty. Wonder why ...
