On hearing that Whangarei Native Bird Recovery Centre had reported a juvenile Grey headed Albatross in their care on Facebook, a phone call checked that it was now in good health and that the person who recovered it was collecting it for release near the finding site in the far north. Another phone call to ask about release details, and we were on our way. It was released on Monday morning and last seen swimming out on a calm sea near the mouth of the Hokianga.
