Marsh Crake near Rawene, Northland

Sorry for delay in posting this. but on the 8th July, we had to brake to avoid a Marsh (Baillons) Crake crossing the road as we drove for the ferry across the Hokianga harbour. When talking to one of the locals later, we were told that they were often seen in this area, as were Bitterns. Until now, we had been led to believe that they were not in this area.
