Hi all,
I know that Aus is still a long way away, but there have been 2 Ruffs and a Buff-breasted Sand found there in the past few days....they are on their way here!! (Oh, and at least one of the Aleutian Terns has returned to NSW).

I know British Columbia had somewhat of an invasion of Buff-breasts this autumn so definitely worth keeping an eye out (Not just in regular wader spots but in any paddocks/plowed fields/turf farms near the coast--e.g. Check all Spur-winged Plover flocks!). Buff-breasteds are a central flyway bird (Generally migrating through central plains and prairie to South America), so you're always happy to get 1-2 in a fall season on the Pacific coast of Canada--e.g. Vancouver. This year however, between August and September, there were probably around 40 seen in various parts of British Columbia! So it may very well have been a bumper breeding year for them.
