MEGA - Pink-footed Shearwater, Stewart Island Pelagic

Wrybill Tours' second Stewart Island Pelagic of the season, led by Neil Robertson and Matt Jones, was rewarded with superb close and prolonged views of a Pink-footed Shearwater, just east of Wreck Reef this afternoon. A very large and robust shearwater, it spent a good 10-15 minutes off the stern of the boat, and was quite happy to 'mix it' with the White-capped and Salvins Albatross to get to the blue cod frames Matt was chucking in to the water.

Hopefully photos and video clips will be posted very soon - when Neil's 21-day tour ends.

Lucky you guys! That’s a great find. Seems the right time of year for it to show up too. Might have to keep an eye out off Codfish for the next few days ;)

Ooh! I'm going to be on Stewart Island in a couple of weeks - hadn't planned on doing a pelagic but may have to re-think that!

The only day I've got available is the 4th, I suspect I won't have too many options...
