Foveaux Shag at Monro Beach, Westland

Postby sav » Tue Dec 04, 2018 9:47 pm

Hi all,

About midday today our tour group was at Monro Beach in Westland. No FC Penguins on show, but a bronze phase Foveaux Shag flew past, going North. I say Foveaux Shag, because it is the most likely, geographically. It might have been an Otago Shag!? Even a Foveaux Shag is very much out of the ordinary here, something like 400km of coast further North than it should have been.

Otherwise in the last 24 hours: Okarito Kiwi at less than 1 m range, NZ Falcon chasing a Blackbird, Yellowheads and Hectors Dolphins - not
a bad day at the office........

cheers
