Possible Common tern, Waitangi Hawkes Bay

Postby tim » Sun Jan 27, 2019 12:04 pm

I saw this bird yesterday that looks like a common tern but with no white fronted terns around at all it was hard to compare size and plumage. The only other possible bird is 1st year white fronted tern. Phot attached from back of camera

cheers Ian, it was just different to have no white fronted terns to compare to at all when I found this bird.

I saw an unusual tern today while it had different markings than Tim’s bird he had red feet and grey ends to the primaries. Any ideas?
