Bugger, knew I should have flown up. If it over-winters and is still present in June-July I'll get my birdy butt up there!

I stopped into wairoa at dusk yesterday on a work trip and met a local who said he saw a 'Marsh Sandpiper' at the river mouth just 10min before I arrived. While it's possible the Whakaki bird moved over I got the impression this had to be the greenshank doing it's usual thing as he said it had been around for a month or more.
