I got permission from the council to wander around all the ponds this morning and check for the white-eyed duck. Awesome day for it but unfortunately was not able to find the hardhead. Huge numbers of Shoveler and teal. Plus large numbers of scaup made it a challenge trying to find a white-eyed duck!

Was returning through the WTP today after surveying Godwits in the lagoon. Had a very brief and unsatisfying view of what may be the White-eyed duck. It swam behind the island and did not reappear. About scaup size, looked rather unkempt, dark head, dark bill with white tip, an area of white in the flank. Did not see a white eye. I'm not willing to claim victory, but it may still be out there. (Also 1 adult and 1 young Ibis)
