Wild peacocks at Foxton Beach?

Wild peacocks at Foxton Beach?

At a cul-de-sac at Foxton Beach I saw two young peacocks. They were just wondering around the road and unfenced sections. The road backs on to pine forest and beach dunes. As the properties are all beach bachs and mostly unfenced I think it unlikely they are domestic pets. Any records of wild peacocks in the area? Sorry no pictures
