Kotuku, Northern Southland

Apologies for late post and poor mobile phone images. Was surprised to see this kotuku in a paddock just South of Athol on 28/05/19. Wonder whether they are recorded regularly in such locations? Cheers, Sean.

HI Sean
I lived in Clyde for several years back in the early 80s and they were regular visitors in Winter to irrigation ponds etc in the Earnscleugh and Alexandra areas.

Hi Sean,

I have also seen a White Heron at Rakatu Wetland near Manapouri in recent times (Last winter I think) which is not really so far away I guess although it only remained there briefly. Also had a spoonbill at the same location earlier on.
