Pelican news

Has anyone more information of the return of the kaipara pelicans. True or not. Numbers?

I haven’t heard anything about them returning? Last I’d heard was a sighting in 2015 by Andrew Crossland and I don’t know of anyone else who’s seen them post that.

Yesterday someone shared a post about them in the New Zealand Birders Facebook group but it's an old photo from 2013.

No, they have not turned up again. The post on Facebook was timed to mark the anniversary of when they were seen in 2015, it did not make any claims about them being found again.

Next year I will move up to live in Far North, on July 2020 and I will be lookout for pelican bones & skulls, If I find them I will let you know.
But I unlikely to find alive pelicans. People may had shot all of pelicans and protected birds for fun.

Hi Everyone

Their was one unconfirmed sighting back in 2017, where a few Pelican sized birds were seen, but they haven't been seen since...

More likely you will hear the future news about someone have found pelican bones on beach in Far North.
