Today at Kidds shellbank on the south shore of the Manukau Harbour, Tony Habraken and I found what we believe is a juvenile Little Stint with pristine plumage. neither of us are photographers but we are trying to download some through the scope phone images that I will post if I can.
also there was bird that we wondered might be a Coxs Sandpiper, but it might just be a newly returned ST Sandpiper with a curved bill.
the overwintering two Large Sand Plover were also present.
A number of newly arrived Godwit and Knot were present.
So all in all a great day.

Thanks for the update David. Looking forward to those pics when you get a chance. This is definitely the window people should be scrutinizing stints (gets tough when they molt into basic plumage!)

Hi David
what would be the possibility of arranging a visit to Kidd's for these waders?
Best wishes

Looks great David, well done! White braces, bright tertial edges dark-centered coverts. Any photos of the possible Cox's?

No photos at this stage but still scrolling through video, we are discussing whether we had 2 Sandpiper, one with a long bill and one shorter,or just over excitement, or dreaming

Concur with Russ, distinct white braces lovely white throat - can't see any reason to dispute this Id.
Well done David & Tony and thanks for putting this up.

Been highly suspect a couple of the Stints at Ellesmere over the last few years have been littles but as you say in non-breed they get very tricky. Great find!
