Hi guys, just posting this one (the trifecta for the day) for Bev Alexander.

Local wildlife photographer, Jill Hanna took a video of this bird at the Ashley Estuary today. It was in the channel where the Sanderling is usually seen this morning. Jill contacted Bev Alexander who ID's it as a likely Large Sand Dotterel and Bev took some photos off Jill's computer screen. Bev then txt them to me and I then emailed them to myself. So that's why the quality is really bad, but the pics do speak for themselves.........

Niall Mugan and Bev Alexander were kind enough to allow me to accompany then out to the Ashley Estuary to look for this bird today. This was spotted on the far side and so the photographs have been taken from quite a distance but I hope they are clear enough to verify the ID of this bird

I would say that confirms it well.

I'd be very happy if it was there in a couple of days when I'm there on tour. Six Texans - I guess its a tick for all of them!!?

cheers

I would have been happy if I could have found it again a couple of hours later on my meander back to the car. I last saw it heading up one of the side channels! Good luck with your trip, with more eyes you should have a better chance of seeig it!

Hi all,

The Greater Sandplover (I just can't bring myself to use the other name) was present this morning. I even had it in the same scope view as the Sanderling, and 2 Wrybills.

cheers

The little guy was there again tonight when me and Adam both happened to visit. Was hanging out on the exposed shingle and mud between the little ashley creek and the main river. Sanderling was also present.
