Fiordland crested penguin, Oamaru

Postby David Riddell » Tue Oct 22, 2019 5:42 pm

Someone just showed me a post on the Birds NZ Facebook page (which I'm not a member of) showing a yellow-eyed, blue and Fiordland crested penguin all in the same shot at Oamaru. Anyone know where that was and if there's any chance of the FCP still being there? Will be there tomorrow (on Stewart Island at the moment).

Hey David, that was passed on by me from one of my Facebook friends. It was seen down by the Oamaru penguin colony on a walk along the beachfront there yesterday around midday.

Had a good look round then spoke to someone at the colony who said the FCP had gone to an animal hospital in Dunedin.

Thanks Dave, no matter, we've been having a great trip so far, it's on to Kaikoura tonight!

We're on a tight schedule and saw GSPs last month but did stop at St Anne's (see elsewhere). Albatross Encounter this morning then Lake Elterwater and Dillons Point Rd this afternoon!
