Whimbrel, Waiongana, Taranaki

Whimbrel spotted at Waiongana river mouth in Taranaki this morning and again this evening. Observed in a group of spur-winged plover (10-11) who were very skittish and raised the alarm at the slightest provocation! Observed in flight on 3-4 occasions with plover but didn't settle for long enough for a decent photograph.

Spotted again today at Waiongana by another border who managed a couple of distant photographs.
