Te Pa Ika - Maketu

Postby Tim Barnard » Sun Dec 15, 2019 2:18 pm

Hi
Hopefully a name that will crop up more in future. This is the newly created wetland area off Ford Road, Maketu. Well worth a visit. Nothing out the usual today but a good mix of birds. Little tern present briefly, six Turnstone, a Sharp-tailed sandpiper along with 47 Pacific golden plover probably the best.
Cheers,
Tim

Last month, Western BOP DC & Regional Council conducted some bittern surveys in this newly opened up area and they and Spotless Crake were seen.
