Dead Albatross on Karioitahi beach

Postby WillB » Fri Jan 03, 2020 8:44 pm

Tonight I found a dead Albatross during my evening walk on karioitahi beach (near Waiuku). Photo attached.

Very sad to see a bird as amazing as this dead on the sand. It appeared to have been there for quite a short time when I found it.

I wonder if seabirds off the west coast and in the Tasman Sea are impacted in any way by the huge smoke plume from the Australian bushfires?
