There are also Myna in captivity throughout the country, and so an escapee is also possible.
Latest Lifer: Tokoeka @ Traill Park, Stewart Island

Happy birding to all who dare to take the challenge

Saw it a couple of times last week and once it flew into the red zone open area just beside Hawke Street from across the road, so that could have been from Hawke Street or Seaview Road. If it has been seen at the old ANZ Bank building it is extending it's territory. That would be about 400m as the myna flies!

In it's usual spot this afternoon.
Plumage is changing.
Today it was chasing Blackbirds away, when it was first found it seemed to be happy being with them.

Hi Kelly,
The piece of red zone land beside the New Brighton Bridge, NE side.
It seems to like the bit at the end by Hawke St.
It's pretty easy to spot if it's about, nothing else walks with such a self confidant gait.
Happy hunting

And this bird will be dead by springtime as mynas cannot stay alive as wild bird in south of latitude 40 oS.
