Are Barbary Doves common in the Napier area. There is a pair building a nest at Anderson Park that we spotted today.

Hi Cheryl. Yes, Napier has as many barbary doves as I have seen anywhere. I also saw and heard one in Anderson Park a couple of years ago too.

Yeah, I've also seen barbary doves (singles) at Anderson Park a few times. Also, further toward Park Island, I've seen the odd one up on power lines

I saw a pair on power lines down in Te Awanga a couple of years ago, out in front of that big vineyard down there, so they're further afield than just metro Napier too.

There is a place down riverbend rd towards the meeanee end where i drove down recently and there were literally hundreds sitting on the powerlines, they obviosly feed them a certain time and they were waiting for it!There would be plenty that would spread out from here I would say?
