We’ve had about 5-6 on the farm all winter. Unsure if numbers have picked up now the flowering Cherry’s are all out though. Will have to ask Dad

Thought I heard one out the back of Kereru Road the other day but it could have been a cockatoo... Also I have seen them a few times near the Hakarimatas.

A flock of eight(!) kaka just flew over the house a few minutes ago, heading north to south. Heard at least one calling on a neighbouring property a few days ago as well.

Forgot to mention that my wife saw a kaka fly across Hwy 26 near the 'welcome to Morrinsville' sign west of town. This is a spot where we sometimes see them in the winter (they seem to hang out in the totaras) but this is pretty early!

Mum and Dad said they had their first Kaka about two weeks ago, probably the loner bird who always whistles back at you and comes in and says hello. But they said that they had seen a further three just in the last week. About the earliest they’ve ever seen them.

I went out to Pukemokemoke on Wednesday 12th and Friday 14th June (on the second occasion trying out the eBird app!) and heard a kaka flying overhead both times - saw it on the first day.
