Nothing today either at the avon-Heathcote.

At least 70 newbies yesterday in the Manukau Harbour. They stood out with their frantic feeding habits, droopy wings and puffed mantle, pretty skinny too some of them.

They were feeding quickly, but the overwintering godwits seemed more settled. Presumably because they have a bit of weight to make up after the journey.

Tony Habraken also reported a banded godwit from the Catlins at the Manukau on Sunday. Nothing had come in to the Manawatu Estuary by yesterday morning.

There were 21 new arrivals in Waipu Cove this afternoon.

Godwits have arrived at Manawatu Estuary. Out on the mudflats fair way off so difficult to count but about 12-20

Still no new godwits on the avon-Heathcote estuary in chch this morning. Maybe they'll come in tomorrow. .....
