Re: Godwit arrivals
New godwits were reported at the Manawatu Estuary on Thursday, and there 21 birds there on Friday including 5 individually marked returnees.
Dan Ruthrauff from Alaska reports surprisingly low numbers of birds in a census last week, which raises the possibility that tens of thousands had just left, so it'd be great to get decent counts from around NZ over the coming week to see if this is a possible explanation or not.
Cheers, Phil

Re: Godwit arrivals
They are dribbling in at Avon/Heathcote estuary in Christchurch. This morning Sandra and I counted only 530 in total. Some are new as they had BP and some had colour bands. Tides are not good enough to see exact combos.
