Swung by Playhouse on 1 Jan 2018, couldn't find any, but they could have been having a siesta under a tree on one of the other ponds. There was however a black-morph fantail which was nice.

Later in the day went to Hoddy's Pond, and found eight, which were all lurking under the trees in the far side of the pond (it was HOT).

On my second visit I found 3 Wood Duck (1 male, 2 females) at the Playhouse pond. None at Hoddy's Estuary Park or any of the other local ponds that I could see.

Tried the Playhouse pond today for the ducks, (twice), also the lake on Nile Rd, Hoddy Estuary Park and, on the Playhouse barman's recommendation, some ponds on Hoddy Rd, but no joy. Still in the area tomorrow, anyone have any updates on where they might be?

Went round the same sites on Sunday morning, also without success. The best thing was a pretty good grey duck on the Hoddy Rd ponds.

After scouting all the local ponds today we found a male and female on the Nile Road pond this afternoon amongst a large army of paradise duck youngsters. Great to see them! They really are neat looking birds.

A couple of ducks were present at the Nile Rd pond this afternoon. Stoked to see them for the first time in NZ.

Having tried for these 3 years in a row I finally caught up with 6 on the grass near a pond at the end of ridgeview road. No sign at Playhouse ponds nor Hoddy Estuary park.

FYI I have checked this pond and all the usual sites every time I visit.
