Little Grebes nesting
The pair of Little Grebe on the pond in Ormiston Road (Waipu) look like they are nesting. Also a pair of Grey Duck on the pond which look to be reasonably pure Grey Duck.

Yes, pond is on private property but easily visible from public road. Standing on the road facing north, nest is a northern end on bank farthest from the road (far left). GPS co-ordinates E174.384315 S-35.931963 (co-ordinates standing on road) - on Google maps you will see a little pond.

On the way home from a very enjoyable day on the water, with Wrybill Tours, I called in to the pond on Ormiston Road, Waipu. The pair of little grebes was easy to spot as they were both alongside a nest. The pond is opposite a road called 'The Highlands". The nest is at the western end of the pond.
