Where's the Male? He should stand out like Dogs balls! Willowbank escapies?

Wow, is this the first confirmed breeding record for this species, outside of captivity?! The ducklings are pretty slow-growers: the one in the picture looks at least a couple of weeks old to me

Re: Carolina wood ducks
The pics don't look right for Styx Mill Reserve, we're struggling to think where the white flowering aquatic plants shown in the first pic grow in the reserve. The Styx Living Laboratory Trust who undertake regular bird monitoring in the reserve haven't seen any Carolina Wood Ducks. Can I ask, were these birds in one of the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve ponds next to Styx Mill Reserve? The willowbank people say they have birds there. Would be great to know for sure if these birds are living undetected within Styx Mill or are actually within willowbank (which is a open air zoo).

Had a good comb of the area mid morning today. There is a heap of fantastic waterfowlage on these lakes but no Carolinas that I could see. Checked around the Little Shaggery too. Was quite entertained watching Coot chicks though. Epic little fellas.
