Hi all,

What is presumably the same bird, but now with more white on the fore-crown, was present today. Also a Curlew Sand and a NZ Dotterel.

Our tour is going well after 9 days of mostly tragic weather. We are missing nothing except Pycroft's Petrel (due to cancelled pelagic) and NZ Falcon and leave the North Island tomorrow with a lsit of 114 so far.

cheers

Hi all,

The common tern was present again at around 10.30am on the 6th Dec. Great views of it sitting on its own at the high tide roost. No sign of the curlew sand.

Cheers,
Nikki

Probably the same bird was present again today around 6:30-7pm. Got some reasonable photos but nowhere near as good as Imogen’s due to being directly into the descending sun. Strikingly different cap colour, head shape and beautiful dark grey wing coverts, dark carpal bar and primaries without any white cutbacks.

Also present was a single PGP, the Curlew sandpiper, 60+ Knots, 100+ Godwits, 20+ Banded Dotterel, and 20+ Wrybill.

Hi all,

Presumably the same Common Tern was present today through the high tide. Very few White-fronted Tern present.

Also a Curlew Sand and 24 very friendly Wrybill. Views down to below 5m!

Curlew sandpiper has been present now for 2 months. Looking very healthy.
