Hi all,

Saw both WWBT at the Southern Marsh today around midday, picking insects off the surface of the water in flight. Then three sharp-tailed sandpipers at the Westshore Lagoon scrapes just after that.

Cheers,

Two WWBT still present for the group today - alternating hawking and then roosting on the ground and running amongst the tussocks and pied stilts! Also spotless crake about, and found the pectoral sandpiper on the marsh (far western end) with at least three sharp-tailed sands.

Hi, went to the marsh and got to see the White-winged Black Terns back on 9 February. Also met a couple of OSNZ people which was great. Could I get a confirmation that I've got a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper on the left, Pectoral Sandpiper on the right here? I watched four sandpipers, so either I must have seen the Pectoral, or there were in fact four Sharp-tailed...

Happy to get a few medium to long distance shots of the WWBT's I'd rate at like 5/10 or something. They were patrolling the far side, so I went around to the SW side of the marsh, but that had me shooting into the sun a bit. Loads of heat shimmer too.

Had a quick visit this morning to Southern Marsh, Ahuriri Wetlands , Napier and saw two small marsh terns. No scope with us, and well out camera range for what we had with us, but presumably the 2 White-winged Black Terns still present?

Great views of a WWBT present today on Southern Marsh in Napier hawking along the edge opposite the stop bank.

There was also a Marsh Sandpiper at 'The Scrapes', as well as 2 pectoral sandpipers, 3 sharp tailed sandpipers, and 3 black fronted dotterels.

Happy new years all :)

Cheers Scott
