Yellow-eyed Penguin - Akaroa Harbour Cruise

Postby Wiedehopf » Fri Nov 29, 2019 11:56 am

Had a nice afternoon out on Akaroa Harbour yesterday afternoon. Spotted a single Yellow-eyed Penguin on the rocks around the harbour entrance. Also saw a single Arctic Skua (quite a lot of white on its belly) and a Northern Giant Petrel.

Hi there, you couldn't post a map showing where that Yellow-eyed Penguin was could you? I'm part of a team of CCC and DoC staff who monitor the Banks Peninsula Yellow-eyed Penguins and protect them with predator control lines and most of the birds have disappeared this year so we're very keen for any leads on sites they may have moved to. Thanks. AC

Hi Andrew, I've circled the bay in which we found the bird. Cheers
