Oriental Cuckoo

Postby Grahame » Thu Dec 12, 2019 12:49 pm

I have just heard from Paul and Igor that there is an Oriental Cuckoo about 1500 mtrs from the Pallid in Collingwood. Found at the same time as the Pallid last Thursday 5th. The Oriental flew into a window last night, and has not been seen today, but is being searched for. It has been photographed.

Cheers, Grahame

Any more info about where the oriental was found or where it flew into a window? Cheers.

A woman who works in the Bay Fitness Centre told Igor and Paul about the Oriental Cuckoo because it had been hanging around outside her house, so you could try contacting her for more info on where that is.

I have just been contacted by Paul G and asked if I would rectify the fact that the photo links were not credited. He would like to rectify this situation as they had given the Swaffords their assurance that they would be credited. Apparently the photo of the bird in the bush was taken minutes after it had flown into Lauren's window.

The photo on the post was taken by Reuben Swafford, and the one in the bush by Lauren Swafford. Paul offers his apology for any for the error to the Swaffords.

Cheers, Grahame

No sign of the Oriental Cuckoo this morning, reports Steve Wood. The location he is searching is at 46 Solly's Road, Rockville, about 2-km from the Bay Fitness Centre. He says to turn right at the junction by the fitness centre and follow the road until you see a sign that says 'Loran & Robin Swafford' towards the end of the road. The bird was previously seen at this property.

5 of us spent a couple hours looking for the bird today to no avail. Robin says after it flew into their window, it flew up into some bushes in their garden and they haven't seen it since.
