Re: miranda today
Paul G has kindly given me permission to put these photos of his onto the forum, with apologies for their quality. The bright well marked bird was taken very recently, and the poorly marked one through the grass was taken two days ago. The other two are taken in October of the poorly marked bird.

Re: miranda today
For some reason, I cannot get the recent well marked photo in the last post, so hopefully, here it is now

Re: miranda today
I suspect that the head marking is light and position dependent and doesn't necessarily represent a different bird. The BBS I observed and photographed had a distinct pale crown stripe and supercilia that varied with the position of the head.

Re: miranda today
I have just been reading my Waders of Europe, Asia and N America.the race 'sibirica' shows rufous fringes to upper parts, a cinnamon wash to the breast, and less obvious split supercilium. Juv shows broader buff fringes.

Re: miranda today
As Probably the main contributor to this subject, it has been put to me that it has become rather long and difficult to search, so now would be a good time to stop using it and replace it with Miranda from 2020. With apologies to Erik, if we could all now use the new subject
