I think it is a hybrid as the white face and vent are often hybrid features in nodes F and G

It just looks rather tatty to me, and some feathers appear to be more of a juvenile brown.

I think the most important aspect of this thread is that we all flood this fantastic tool with accurate and up to date data. Don’t worry about mistakes just populate it with info. That’s something we should all be doing from novice enthusiasts to mega twitchers... there’s not enough of the latter to be frank. Honest mistakes will get picked up. Just keep the data flowing...

Thanks all for your input on this thread. I don't always remember or have time to check the comments here but checking back through these various lists, I can see virtually all were picked up by regional ebird reviewers and changed/removed (if appropriate).

I'm sure many of the regular ebird users out there can see that visitors run into a lot of confusing situations, not just in terms of identification but more so when it comes to the numerous possible common names. Hard thing to completely fix but such is life.

This one has a mallard or mallard hybrid with some interesting feather pigments. Maybe either from a domestic breed or some sort of melanin or other pigment mutation.
The user has put it down as grey duck.

One thing that always annoys me is reports of Brown Kiwi around Wellington- which obviously there aren't. One on Te Ahumairangi, one at Wellington Zoo, 6 at Zealandia spread throughout two hotspots and two random locations. The Te Ahumairangi and Wellington Zoo ones are obviously unfounded. The others are of course Little Spotted Kiwi.
