What is wrong with this Kereru?

Postby Jan » Wed May 06, 2020 3:04 pm

I've been sent this pic of a Kereru with what looks like a nasty case of prolapse. Does anyone know what it is and how it's caused and whether it should recover naturally? Pic from Port Levy, Banks Peninsula.

Hi Jan.
I am unable to actually see the photos as they just come up as three little red icons.

Sorry, I can't seem to attach a pic, but Neil has offered to attach them for me. He perhaps hasn't seen my msg yet. Brett Gartrell says it isn't a prolapse but a swollen mass around the vent. More info later.
