Seen both today and yesterday in the pond behind the hide and saw Ian spotting them today while leaving miranda.
Yesterday they flew off to feed towards thames.

Also hybrid black stilt saw "spotted by Ian"

This afternoon at Bird Hide, at 2:30pm I checked for glossy ibises, but after spent over 2 hours, large flocks of black-billed gulls, pied stilts, red-billed gulls, a pair of mallard, Kelp gulls, a Caspian tern, few white-faced herons, came to rest on rocky bar.
No grossy ibises.

High tide: 2:50pm.

Some black-billed gulls had bands on legs.

Right leg Left leg
one bird metal green
one bird metal
one bird metal
green
one bird green metal

Second winter black-billed gulls still had orange legs & base of beaks.
Adult black-billed gull still had brown feet.

Both red-billed gulls & black-billed gulls played in air, flying, flapping madly & dive, then flies again, turning suddenly.

I lives in Thames. :)

Hi Ian,
Thats a good record.

Are you going to lodge it with the OSNZ Records Appraisal Committee? With one or two exceptions glossy ibis are still on the reporting list.

Heres the link to their online reporting form. http://osnz.org.nz/content/unusualrare-bird-report

I couldn't find an ibis this evening.
I finally found the marsh sand right on sunset (ok, Graham pointed it out to me), out in front of the hide.
22 spoonbills in close in nice light a little earlier. A pleasant evening, despite the lack on ibis.

Hi Clinton,
These were photographed on the 9.5.11 so they may have moved on since then.
They were found in the big pond behind the hide with Ian.
I did see them fly out to the mud towards Thames and then come back on dusk.

Thanks, Tim,
I'll check for them tomorrow at low tide. They are immature birds with white mottles on their heads.
They came from Australia, follow cyclones.

Cheers
