White Heron x2 Thornton

White Heron x2 Thornton

Seen on the first of May in between the fishing pier and the sandspit on the western side. They flew across the river in the direction of the wetlands.

There was another in the Whakatane River Estuary a couple of days afterwards opposite the Warehouse. First time I have seen one there but the third heron species I have seen in the area.

A flyover by the same pair following the line of the canal service road at the Whakatane Wastewater Treatment ponds on the 11 May, and then one of them has stayed on and off in the small lagoon area at the Shaw Road subdivision.
