Kia ora,
I was watching an interesting documentary on a lady that rehabilitates Hummingbirds. There was one bird was brought in, the poor thing had been drenched in sugar water and it essentially dissolved its feathers, as it strips them of their oils and their ability to be waterproof. I was curious as to whether this might be relevant for our birds in NZ or if it’s more specific to a particular breed or species as it’s not something I’ve read for NZ. Interested in thoughts as I couldn’t find anything specific to NZ in the online search I’ve done.
An urgent rebuild of the system BirdingNZ runs on has resulted in loss of posts made over the past week.
