Muriwai gannet colony access track open to March 2026
The track to the Muriwai gannet colony viewing platform will be open until March 2026 according to this sign seen there this morning (1/12/25) - so it seems the previously-signaled closure that was due to start today for 3 weeks is not going ahead.

When I was there 2 weeks ago there appeared to be Gannets nesting on Oaia Island for the first time since they were displaced by Fur seals about 5 years ago.
I can only assume that there's been no extreme weather events when nesting started.
Anybody know anything about this?
