The two maps below show the spread of North Island Brown Kiwi in the Remutaka Forest Park and beyond between 2011-13 and 2024, near Wainuiomata. The black dots are the locations where kiwi were present and the blue line the approximate boundary. This acoustic monitoring survey map was displayed by Susan Ellis, project leader for kiwi monitoring in the Remutaka Conservation Trust, during her talk on this subject to members on 7 April.
