I'm a bit sour about this list in particular... I have the highest count in Palmy at the moment. I wonder if they are taxidermied specimens held at Massey that he's usedOscar Thomas wrote:eBird needs to add the ability to report checklists that don't have photos. https://ebird.org/checklist/S53868861
An urgent rebuild of the system BirdingNZ runs on has resulted in loss of posts made over the past week.

Re: Obviously incorrect reports on eBird
Matt was an exchange student from the US and I expect that this was just his personal list that somehow got listed as Massey. Clearly it is not, and shouldn't be (and no doubt won't be) analysed as if it were a real list. I'm sure it's not intentional.

More gold, obviously not intentional. A Tiritiri 'Mantangi' checklist centered on Queens Wharf: https://ebird.org/checklist/S63928197

This one has Red-billed Gulls as Black-billed Gulls.
https://ebird.org/checklist/S64880129
The person left a note saying they can't find the Red-billed Gull ID. It would be helpful if someone could also tell them that it's named
"Silver Gull (Red-billed)" on eBird.

This one has what I think is a Lesser Sand Plover (a vagrant bird) put as Banded Dotterel.

Not a LSP but we did discuss this bird a fair bit and it appears to show traits of Banded Dotterel and Shore Plover, but the observer is still unsure and it was not resighted.Finn Davey wrote:This one has what I think is a Lesser Sand Plover (a vagrant bird) put as Banded Dotterel.

Is it possible for it to be a hybrid?Oscar Thomas wrote:Not a LSP but we did discuss this bird a fair bit and it appears to show traits of Banded Dotterel and Shore Plover, but the observer is still unsure and it was not resighted.Finn Davey wrote:This one has what I think is a Lesser Sand Plover (a vagrant bird) put as Banded Dotterel.

Anything is possible. Here is a King Shag in Nelson Lakes that might warrant questioning? https://ebird.org/atlasnz/checklist/S62897857

Re: Obviously incorrect reports on eBird
Not 100% sure on this one But they have down a Greater-sand Dotterel/Plover.
I think it's a NZ Dotterel but not 100% sure on that.
https://ebird.org/checklist/S65351730
They are also using the name "Double-banded plover" in their description of what else they think it could be, so they might not be a New Zealander either.
