Hi all,

Carol & I & Kevin Matthews had great day at Walker Island today (Rangaunu Harbour north of Kaitaia), 1200 Godwits, 1 Eastern Curlew, 12 Turnstones, 1 Pacific Golden Plover, 2 Reef Herons, 1 hybrid Stilt. Terns stole the day though with over 100 Caspian (mainly juvs), c.30 White-fronts, 9 Little Terns, one in good breeding plumage & 3 Common Terns (race longipennis), one in breeding plumage, the other 2 nearly so. Will try to attach photo - haven't done this before . . . .

Cheers,
Detlef

Fantastic. I think this may be the first photo of a bird in breeding plumage I have seen taken in NZ. Lucky you! (Though you make your own luck by going out, of course...)
