Leopard Seal - Awarua Bay, Southland

Reported today from head of Awarua Bay by Glenda Rees, possibly a first for this area. Glenda advised not looking well, DoC has been notified.

Two Leopard Seals on Stewart Island at the moment. A very small emaciated individual on Ulva Island which is badly scarred and missing an eye.
And then there is a much larger healthier looking Leopard Seal on the north end of Horseshoe beach.

A young healthy looking Leopard Seal spent all of yesterday Friday 26th at the Northern end of Horseshoe beach Stewart Island/Rakiura.
But unfortunately no further sign today.
