Shining Cuckoos 2025-26

First bird last Sunday at Okere Falls, another today in the same general area. A friend reported one from Rotorua on Monday.

One today 11th sept, on the heads at Bowentown, and Erik had one today on Burma rd.

One reported from Hamurana today, Lake Rotorua.

7 Sept, Te Awanga, Hawkes Bay and being going strong all around each day.
Normally are patchy at the begining

First one heard yesterday in Waitakere, West Auckland. They seem to be a little later arriving around here this year for some reason.

I heard three Shining Cuckoos calling at Otari-Wilton's Bush Reserve in the capital yesterday morning.
