Little Egret

Post by colinrl »

Hi all.

Anybody going to Mangawhai Heads for the Pelicans should also keep an eye open for a Little Egret which I saw today, 15/11/12, between 2.00 and 2.30pm from the little reserve at the end of Pearson Rd. The locals are aware of it but think it's a white morph White-faced Heron.
This gives me a complete collection of all 4 Australian white herons in NZ along with the Intermediate at Waiatarua Reserve some years ago, the Great and the Cattle. Has anyone else managed this?

the little egret has been around Mangawhai since about July 2011. as with any small community not everyone is a specialist in all subjects, it is a shame you made the assumption that because one person - perhaps, thinks the bird is a white morph white-faced heron you have indicated that we all do.
